OUR BLUE RECYCLING CANS HAVE ARRIVED!
Please come to the garage entrance of our building Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00am-12:30pm with proof of residency to pick up your new recycling can.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE RECYCLING IN BAGS. Loose items in bin, only.
Please make sure bottles and cans are rinsed
Clean bottles and jars, labels and caps may remain.
Clean aluminum, metal and steel cans -labels may remain.
Clean plastic bottles and containers.
Recycling containers (when they are at least half full) are to be placed along side of your garbage for pick up.
Newspapers are to be bundled and tied (not to exceed one foot high) and placed next to your refuse on regular collection days.
Please flatten and tie in bundles approximately 2ft. x 2ft. x 6 ins. Place next to recycled newspapers.
No light bulbs, ceramic glass, mirrors, items made of clay or laminated glass
No aerosol cans (even empty ones)
No paint cans
No flammable liquids
No propane tanks
No oil cans
No liquid waste
No cooking oil
Used motor oil may be brought to the District or placed in plastic containers tightly sealed and visibly marked USED MOTOR OIL and placed next to recycling container.
The following can now be BUNDLED & TIED and placed alongside garbage cans:
Magazines, catalogs, cardboard food boxes, instruction manuals, office and school paper, white telephone books, computer paper, discarded mail, receipts, paper grocery and paper lunch bags.
*No hardcover or paperback books, no metallic paper, no paper plates, cups or paper towels, no egg cartons and no Styrofoam.
The Town of Hempstead ordinance prohibits placing recycling receptacles on the curb prior to 7:00 P.M. on the day preceding scheduled pick up and must be removed three hours after pick up.
